Prescribers are reminded that agomelatine is not recommended for use in East Kent following the advice that NICE is unable to recommend the use in the NHS of agomelatine for the treatment of major depressive episodes because no evidence submission was received from the manufacturer or sponsor of the technology. The NICE guidance is available by here: https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ta231Patients prescribed agomelatine (Valdoxan/Thymanax) should have their liver function monitored and agomelatine should not be used in people with high transaminase levels (<3 x ULN) or aged > 75 years.
